Burundi's health care statistics are staggering - A Burundian woman has a 1 in 23 lifetime risk of dying in childbirth; and 54 out of 1,000 babies will die before they reach their first birthday.

There is great opportunity for impact in Burundi and Village Health Works is uniquely positioned to act.

Our cornerstone program in Kigutu is a comprehensive community health clinic. The services we provide include primary care, maternal and child health, mental health, the prevention and treatment of HIV, TB, malaria and other infectious diseases, and a growing non-communicable disease program. Our clinic has responded to local needs over time and now includes four inpatient wards, including one dedicated primarily to severe pediatric malnutrition.
